week 4
Monday
The kids spent the morning at a field trip class to the Van Andel research Institute. The theme of this field trip was the difference between plants and animals. They came home with some great compare and contrast papers and all had a great time. We stopped by the giant tire swing while we were downtown. We completed our school at home in the afternoon then Caiden went to Math circle at Calvin and the little kids and I enjoyed a visit to Woodland Mall's play area. Then Caiden had soccer practice. It was a pretty full day.
Wednesday
We made our own blood in science today. We talked about the 4 parts of blood and their functions then we made it out of cherrios (RBC), Marshmellows ( WBC), Pom Poms (platelets), and Water (plasma). Westin's think outside the box kit arrived today. It's a fire kits to the kids had fun trying to make a fire with flint sticks. The kids did a full days worth of work today.
Thursday
It was a beautiful day out today. We finished school before lunch and then the kids went to gymnastics. After their class we met the Moss family and the Douglass family at the Fredrick Meijer Gardens. It is always such a beautiful time of year to visit. The kids liked the new instillation that used 1 million dried flowers.
Friday
It rained today. Caiden finished his book Bridge to Terabithia so it was a perfect day to watch the movie and snuggle up. We also watched a movie on Mesopotamia for history and one the circulatory system for science. Westin continues to make good progress on his reading. Maddy is doing well in her studies too. It was our first school day where nothing special happened. We were due for a lazy day.
