Week 16

Sunday - Today was Super Bowl Sunday and I some how didn't take any pictures today. We went to church in the morning. We came home and played a game together after lunch then Mike and I took naps, which hasn't happened in forever. The kids went to AWANA and it was sports night. While the kids were gone I preped for the the week ahead and Mike ran some errands. After the kids finished AWANA we went to the Thelen's house. The guys watched the game in their basement and the mom and kids played games together upstairs. We stayed til the end of the game so it was after 10:00pm when we got home.

Monday - Today was Valentine's Day. We always have a special breakfast together and we get the kids a small gift bag. We then tackled school today. Westin had swim lessons in the morning and Caiden had gymnastics in the evening. The kids were very slow moving today as we had stayed out late last night for the super bowl. They also had a hard time going to bed on time.

Tuesday- We did math and writing in the morning then the kids went to Spanish. When they came home Maddy and I colored together and Caiden and Westin played out in the snow together. After dinner we met up with the Bibers at world of winter downtown. We came home and sat in our warm hot tub then crashed. It had been a really great day.

Wednesday - I'm not always good at noting what we're doing in History. We've been learning about the Chinese Dynasties. This week we are learning about the Song Dynasty. We talked about reflection, refraction, and diffraction in science today. The kids went out and played in the snow for a good amount of time this morning. Then we finished up school and the big kids had youth group.

Friday - Math update- I talk very little about math here. It's not a flashy subject. There aren't a lot of cool activities that pair with it. It's easy to teach from the book. But here's our math update. Caiden has really taken off with this understanding of square roots and inequalities. We are currently working through the probability unit and he is doing very well. Maddy has made major strides in math this year too. She is currently working through a geometry unit. But her long division has greatly improved as well as her 3 digit multiplication. Westin continues to be very good at math. Maddy and Westin are on track to finish their book on time Caiden is a little behind. Although all the kids worked on math this summer the younger 2 did a little more.

Maddy had her riding lessons at 2:30 with the Douglass girls. It's always good to see them. In the evening we attend the Roger that activities. The kids and I attended a workshop on solar Arrays and then the kids made their own solar powered car. We had a light reception after and then we got to meet the first American female astronaut piolet. She gave a great speech and the kids had a blast.
