Sunday - We went to the great wolf lodge over the weekend with my family and Maddy took the Jr. life guarding class. It was wonderful. It was free and they taught the kids a ton of things.
Monday- Mark this down in the history books. I took no pictures today. We did school at home in the morning then the kids went to art school. We had lunch with friends then came home and finished school. Caiden went over to a friends house then Maddy had Civic theater.
Tuesday - Today was one for the record books. Our history lesson was on Clara Barton. The kids had fun making crafts out of band aids. They are retaining a lot of information on the Civil War. We worked on reading, writing, math and reading comprehension. In between subjects the kids made a nest out of blankets on the porch. Then we went to the library for story time. The kids were learning about the letter v and she was talking about vibrations. So she put out pots and pans. They kids loved it. I took them out for lunch after story time then we met friends at the theaters to see Wrinkle in Time. Which was awesome! We went straight down town after to get Maddy to civic theater and the boys and I played at the children's museum. We came home had dinner and rested a little and then headed off to rock and mineral club. The theme was gems and the kids learned about their birth stones.
Friday- I've been working with Westin on his handwriting and just introducing him to sit time at the table to get him ready for next year's preschool curriculum. Maddy had fun today playing with our valcro map of the continents and placing the animals in the right continent. We worked on school then went on a nature hike with friends. We dropped Maddy off at her civic theater practice and in the evening we played settlers.
Saturday- In the morning we went to Blandford nature centers Maple Syrup Festival. The kids always have a good time at this. They enjoyed the old time games, horses, one room school house, crafts, blacksmith, sugar bush, tapping stations, history of sap, log cabin, and of course the maple suryp cotton candy. In the afternoon Mike's parents came to visit Maddy went to a birthday party and Caiden played minecraft with a friend. In the evening Maddy had her first civic theater performance on the main stage. Thursday - I've been using these picture flash cards with the kids as we start each history lesson with a review and it's been fun to see that they are retaining so many names and locations in the civil war. We're still working on force and the kids did a push pull lesson today in science. Westin is becoming more mature every day. He can now sit and happily play legos for a long time while the big kids do their school work. The big kids had gymnastics in the afternoon and after we finished our school work Maddy had civic theater practice. The boys and I stayed at the museum and Maddy got to play after since the museum is open late on Thursdays. Tonight they had a shadow lab which was a lot of fun.
