Week 8

Monday
In history we continue to talk about the progressive era.  We talked about Woman's suffrage and how they marched and made banners.  We also talked about how the colors of each of the woman's groups had meaning.  We made our banners and had a lot of fun with that project.  Westin continues to love his preschool work.  The kids also worked on the their other subjects.  Caiden is on his 3rd Percy Jackson book and continues to love these books.  Maddy is reading the Bindi books and continues to make great progress in her reading.  I am still having her read out loud to me.  Which is time consuming but really good for her.  Both kids are on pace with math and doing really well with their math facts.  We finished all their work before lunch.
After lunch Caiden went to Art by Era and I worked on getting the pumpkins started with Maddy and Westin.  Then we went to Linford's house for a short while. Maddy's sewing class got bumped up and hour today so we could go to Well's Orchard for a corn maze.  It was a beautiful fall day. It felt great to get some outside time!

Tuesday
I love it when the Spanish teachers post pictures of what the kids are doing in class online.  It's always fun to see what they do during class.  I was pretty wiped out so we didn't do a fun outing after Spanish like we normally do.  It felt good to come home and rest. We watched Mary Poppins today for our historical movie.  We talked about Mrs. Banks work with woman's suffrage.

Wednesday
We took today off.  Life's too short.  We had alot of fun things planned and I didn't want to have to sneak school in between our activities. In the morning we met friends at Ihop for free scary pancakes.  Then we went downtown and played at the children's museum.  They had glow in the dark slime in the lab room.  The kids loved it!  Then we went to Mike's work.  His office has trick or treating set up.  Mike loves showing off the kids. We came home for lunch then met frinds at the movies for Hotel Transylvanian 3. It was the free movie for kids.  Then we came home and Westin took a nap and then the big kids had a rest time too.  We did a little trick or treating on our neighborhood.  After that we went to the Douglas's for a Halloween party and more trick or treating.  Super fun day with friends.

Thursday
We had a really great day at home today.  We took our time with school which was very nice.  We used our candy from Halloween for our skip counting.  Westin used the candy to help him count to 60.  I took no pictures of our school today which is rare.  In the afternoon Maddy had dance and then after dinner I went to a parks and rec work out class with my friend Angie.  Self care is hard but I'm trying to make it a priority to carve out time for me these days.  It felt good to get out.

Friday
The kids did reading, writing, spelling, history, math and Spanish today and were done before lunch.  Caiden caught a spider recently and they work on creating a unique cage for it.  In the afternoon Maddy had horse lessons and the boys and I played at a new park in Allegan and went to the library.
