week 13

Sunday
This was an exciting Awana for the kids.  They had the Awana store tonight.  They look forward to this one all year.  We had small group during the kids Awana time and we're very thrilled to celebrate Mrs. Marla's birthday.  She loves our kids so much.  It was sweet to celebrate with her.

Monday
We opted to take today off of school which was so nice.  The kids were excited to go to the children's museum members only winter wonderland.  They enjoyed painting windows, making ornaments, and frosting cookies along with all the other normal things at the museum.  When we got home the kids helped me make chocolate covered pretzels for their Spanish teachers.  We also turned in a PBL today which is a big project.

Tuesday
After Spanish I took the kids to the Fredrik Meijer Gardens for the celebrations around the world.  The kids like looking at the Christmas trees and playing with the cultural items in the displays.  The trains are always a favorite too.  After the gardens we went to the down town market for snacks with Santa.  The kids got to make ornaments, talk with santa and got free treats.  It was a great afternoon.

Wednesday
Today the big kids had camp roger.  Westin and I normally do fun activities on these days but today he seemed tiered.  So I ran a few errands and we fell asleep in the shopping cart.  We read books and snuggled.  When the kids got home from camp they were excited to build their world war 1 dioramas.

Thursday
Today we did something we never do.  We started the day with a movie.  I was feeling worn out and sooo ready for Christmas break.  We watched Galipoli.  It's about the Australians involvement in the battle of Galipoli. It was a good movie but a little bit of a downer so we followed it up with Sgt. Stubby.  The kids LOVED this one!

We talked about the American soldiers being called dough boys
Friday
We had a great day at home.  Westin is working on his name and the big kids are continuing their work with learning the parts of a cell.  Caiden is working on building his division facts in Mindcraft.  We worked on Math reading and writing today too.  One more day and we'll be on Christmas break.

Saturday
We met our friends at Caberfae for the first time this season. It was a great day for skiing.  The kids did great and we enjoyed spending all day in the sun.  IF you buy your season pass in the summer it's $15 for the whole season for kids and $99 for adults.
