week 9

Monday
Today we woke up to a winter wonderland of snow.  All things pause when the first snowfall of the year hits.  I let the kids enjoy the snow and then we settled in with hot chocolate and our work.  We had a productive morning.  All that fresh air seems to be good for them.  We then met Mike for Indian food for lunch.  We've been studying ancient India in history so I wanted to introduce the kids to Indian food.  They were great at trying new things.  We finished up school in the afternoon then Caiden had his last Math Club at Calvin University.  When he finished class we met Mike at Sky Zone, they are having a can drive for free jump passes.

Tuesday
The kids all went to Spanish and I tackled some tasks at home.  We then went to the UICA for our after Spanish activity, it's free this month with our public museum pass.  The kids liked walking around the galleries and they really love the make and take space.  They have many art supplies and the kids can just create whatever they like.

Wednesday
I feel like I need a nap after our Wednesday activities this week.  I dropped Maddy off at the homeschool building for band and Choir at 8:30.  Then I came home and worked with the boys on school until Caiden's guitar lessons at 10:30.  We ate lunch at the homeschool building and then Maddy had private lessons from 12:30- 1:00.  Caiden had finished school and was begging to go home, so I ran him home.  Then we picked Maddy up from private lessons and went straight to Westin's swim lesson.  We got home around 2:30 and I started making dinner.  After dinner we went to the Wyoming library to hear a holocaust survivor speak.  He was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed the opportunity to meet a survivor.

Thursday
We did school at home. Then Maddy had her well child check up.  We only had an hour before gymnastics started so we ran to Meijer, filled the van up with gas, and went through the car wash.  We don't normally run errands during the school day, so it felt like a treat to get a few things crossed off my to do list with kids in tow.  The kids went to gymnastics and I enjoyed a trip to Biggby with Angie.  We then went to Pizza Hut to use the kids book it coupons.   We came home finished school and then did some much needed work around the house.  Mike is gone hunting so we didn't do a normal dinner.  Maddy has really been enjoying the Dr. Sues show on Netflix so she asked for green eggs and ham.  It felt good to stay home tonight.  We've been enjoying some pretty fun activities lately but we were due for a night in.

Friday
Today we spent the morning at the Kid's Food Basket.  I like to have the kids volunteer a few times a year and this is a great option because kids as young as 5 can volunteer.  The kids had fun and learned a lot about the organization and about poverty in Kent county.  We then met 2 other families at the library and did some school with friends.  It was nice to catch up with the other moms.  We came home and finished school.  Then the kids met friends at For the Kidz gymnastics for open gym.
