Week 3

Monday - We started the day with a lesson on Vikings.  We made hats and talked about the Viking King Bluetooth.  We talked about the midnight zone in science and bioluminescent fish.  The kids did their spelling, vocab, reading, writing, and math.  For art we talked about Michelangelo and worked on our sculpting skills. We listened to music by Beethoven.  In the afternoon we went to running club. It was lightly raining so we still met but had fewer kids.  The K9 police unit was at the park today for a public meet and greet.  So it was fun meeting the dog and the kids got stickers and trading cards.  Maddy had her Van Andel zoom meeting then it was time for dinner.  A neighboor girl joined us for dinner.

Wednesday
We continued our Viking unit in history and worked on our science lapbook.  The kids tackled their other subjects and Westin bagged to do his Motte and Baily project early.  We then went to running club.  After running with the group we jumped into the car and drove straight to Traverse City.  We stayed in an awesome Airbnb right on the bay.  The kids had fun playing and holding the ducks outside of our rental.  In the evening they all enjoyed drawing together.

Thursday's schnanagins
We woke up to a beautiful rainbow over the Bay.  We had a nice slow morning and enjoyed our AirBnB until 11:00.  We headed to see my Aunt who has a u- pick flower in Sutton's Bay.  My mom forgot some things at the AirBnB so I took the kids to a downtown Traverse Park while we waited for them. The kids enjoyed playing at my Aunts house.  It was lightly raining so we went and had lunch on their porch.  After lunch I took the kids in my van to the Sutton's Bay Candy shop.  They also enjoyed the London style phone booth.

Thursday's Ship School
We arrived at the boat at 2:00.  They broke us down into groups.  We rotated through a benzos group, microscope group, fish identification group, and everyone had a turn to drive the boat.  We also helped put up the sail.  We arrived at the dock at 5:00.  The kids really enjoyed this experience and learned alot.

Friday
The kids were very tired for our big day yesterday.  We didn't get in bed last night until almost 10:00.  So we had a slow morning.  We sipped hot chocolate and watched YouTube videos on Michelangelo, Beethoven, and the Abyss Ocean Zone.  The kids did a round of school a cleaning chore and then they got to watch some Dude Perfect.  This is our 2nd Friday with this rhythm and I love it!  The house gets cleaned and it feels nice to take our time.  Westin fell asleep on the couch.  He had a swim lesson scheduled but we rescheduled it as he was napping.  I love the flexibility of homeschooling.
