week 1 2022 school year

 Monday 

It's our first day of the new school year.  Here's what we are doing this year for every subject:

Math- Caiden is using the Chicago University curriculum for algebra and Maddy and Westin are using Horizens math 

Writing- Caiden and Maddy are taking a creative writing class are Grace Co-op and Westin is doing a Minecraft themed writing curriculum.  Westin is also still working on his sight words.

Spelling- All 3 kids are working on All about spelling

Vocabulary - Caiden and Maddy are using 

Reading- I let all 3 kids read age level books they enjoy

Foreign Language- Caiden is using rosetta stones free from the library and Maddy is learning french from Duolingo while Westin is learning German from Duolingo

Typing - The older kids are using Nitro type and this is Westin's first year with typing 

History- all 3 kids are doing American History 

Science - We are looking at the Michigan standards for 8th graders which is a review of most of the science that we've already learned but a good time to make sure we've covered everything.

Bible- Maddy and Westin are doing Awana.  Caiden is taking a confirmation class that has homework.

Friday 

Today we did a light load of school.  It was a beautiful day and we went to Fredrik Meijer Gardens to see their fall display.  We enjoyed walking back to the farm and seeing all the birds on the lake.  We then went to Robinettes to get some sweet fall treats and the kids also enjoyed their corn maze.
