summer learning August
August 1st
Today we went to the Grand Rapids Public Library end of summer reading celebration
We used their pizza hut rewards and went out to lunch for free
August 2nd - We used our free entrance to get into the Kroc center today. We got them from the Tuesday book and ice cream program.
August 4th - Today we drove to Midland to drop Westin off for the week. When we came home the kids had friends over while their parents went out on a date night,
August 5th - With Westin gone we could do some activities that are difficult when he's with us.
We went to the public museum and watch a planetarium showing on the eclipse. We are getting very excited for our trip to St. Louis to see the eclipse later this month.
We took Mike to the mind bender exhibit.
Then we went to the downtown Y for family rock climbing.

August 6- After Church we took the kids to Shulers to get their rewards for their summer reading.
Caiden chose a magic kit.
Then we played games lots of games because we could

Thursday - We came home around noon and Mike had taken the morning off to stay home with Westin.
August 11- We spent the day at home. We caught this great snake and created a habitat for him to live in.
August 13- After church we took the kids to march in solidarity with all those hurt in Charlottesville.
August 14th - we've been working all summer on our math facts and summer reading. Now in addition we are working on earning 4 jr. ranger badges in St. Louis and learning more about the moon and the solar eclipse.

August 15th- Book and ice cream in the park and playing games at home.
August 16th
I've been working on getting our school year planned and preped

August 17th
We got on the road bright and early
We drove straight through to Illinois and stopped at an ASTC reciprocal museum to play at and eat lunch at.
We then drove straight to our campsite where we had dinner, went swimming, played and the park and had a campfire. The campgrounds leaves much to be desired but we're 10 minutes from the city and the price was right.
The cicadas were pretty loud.
August 18th - We started the morning out at the old courthouse and got a jr. ranger badge there. Then we went to the arch. The kids got another badge there. We rode the arch to the top. The view was really cool. After that we spent the rest of the day at the public museum.

August 19th- We started off the morning at Ulysses S. Grant's home and national park. The kids got a jr. ranger badge there. Then we went to the St.Louis Zoo. Westin fell asleep after the zoo so I took the big kids to the St. Louis History museum to play while Mike stayed in the car with Westin.

The St. Louis zoo is free but they have an activity pass the we got for 1/2 price because of our John ball Zoo membership.
