Week 2
Monday
Last week we had a reduced schedule at home. This week we added in our Spelling curriculum back in, Science, and bible. Now we're doing all subjects with the big kids. Westin continues to be learning a new letter each week and counting concepts. We learned about the Wright Brothers in history today and the kids built and painted a plane to help remember their first flight at kitty hawk. Maddy and Westin and I spent a time at the library while Caiden had Art. After art and we spent some time playing with friends. Maddy had sewing and I used that time to go grocery shopping.
The kids had their lingual learners class. All 3 kids are really enjoying their classes. The big kids have 3 classes. Spanish Music, Spanish Art, and Spanish culture. All 3 classes are completely taught in Spanish. The teacher posted some pictures on facebook of the kids in their classes. I ran errands precooked some meals and did some cleaning while the kids were in class. After Spanish we saw some artprize and then went to the public museum for a planetarium show. We came home and watched Woman who Walks Ahead. The movie was about Sitting Bull. Then Caiden went to Robotics with Mike and Maddy and I tie dyed a tee-shirt.
We got our work done in the morning then went to the library to pick up some books. Caiden had a friend over in the afternoon and the boys worked on their lego robots together. In the evening we had our first Grace Night at church. The kids shot off rockets and made tie dye shirts. Everyone had a good time.
Thursday-
The kids did a writing assignment and Math then we spent the rest of the day at the air zoo in Kalamazoo. We had been learning about the Wright Brothers in History so we watched a movie about them on the way there as it takes an hour to get there. We walked around with a docent when we first arrived then enjoyed the rides. There are so many interactive exhibits and the play area is wonderful. Then we took the shuttle to the East building and talked with a man who works on the restoration team about a world war 2 plane that they took out of Lake Michigan. After spending 5 hours at the air zoo Caiden went to his Robotics group and Maddy had dance class. We were all pretty beat. It was a fun but full day.
Friday
We worked on all subjects today and were finished by 11:30. My parents came and were very excited to watch Maddy's riding lessons. After we came back from her riding lessons we snuggled up together and had a movie night with grandma and grandpa. It was the perfect way to end a great week.
All three kids had soccer games today and my parents were very excited to see the kids play. We played games in the afternoon with my parents then they left after dinner. In the evening the kids made slime and then we did Caiden's tinker crate. It was really fun and we are looking forward to our getting our kits this year!
