week 27

Monday-
Today was a pretty much as close to a perfect homeschool day as you can get.  The kids slept in.  They then accomplished several parts of school outside in their new Easter hammocks.  We met up with friends at a park after lunch and Maddy had her sewing lessons today.  The kids are working on making a civil rights lapbook.  We talked about the March on Washington and the bombing of the 16th street church for our history lesson.  The kids learned the bones in the hands and arm today in science.  We talked about earth day and the kids writing assignment was on Earth day too. Both kids did awesome on their math lessons.  We brought back out bible reading this morning.  In grammar we did work with quotation marks and Maddy is getting very close to the end of her spelling book.  Both kids are also coming to the end of their penmanship books. Westin is learning his lower case letters this week.

After Spanish we met friends at Huff Park.  We had never been there before and totally loved it!  We came home and watched Selma.  It was a great movie to go with our civil rights unit.

Thursday
I pared back the kids school today.  We talked about the black panthers, Malcom X, and Martain Luther King Jr.'s assassination today.  This lesson ended our civil rights unit.  The kids did their writing and math and then I let them have the rest of the morning off.  With their free time they created stickbot studios in the basement and Maddy helped me clean out her fish tank.  Then we had lunch and then we took Caiden to gymnastics.  After that we all went to the park for a playdate with our Spanish group.  Then we dropped Maddy off at dance.
