Monday
I try to make the first day of school fun for the kids. We start off each year with a scavenger hunt that ends with each kid getting a new toy. Then they get to pick a restaurant of their choice for breakfast. They picked IHOP, they like the build your own pancakes. We then came home and did our science lesson. We're studying the nervous system and we're starting with the brain. So we made our own brains out of homemade play dough. Maddy and Caiden worked on math while I worked with Westin on his reading lesson, counting bears, and writing lesson. Caiden did his reading on his own and I worked with Maddy on her reading lesson.
We then took a break and picked up pizza and headed to Wedgwood Park. We fed the ducks and played in the creek and then our friends the Moss family joined us. We came home and did a history lesson

The kids had their first Spanish class today. After class we went to Huff park and played with friends for a few hours. Then we watched the Croods to go with our stone age lessons in history. After dinner Mike took Caiden to NRG and Maddy and I made cookies.

Wednesday
We made the major components of the nervous system today in Science. We talked about the Paleolithic era in history and the kids did their spelling, Math, Writing, reading, and Awana. Maddy had band and Choir. Caiden had Guitar lessons and Westin had swim lessons. The kids helped cook dinner and clean up then we had family game night.

We tackled school and then all 3 kids had gymnastics. After gymnastics we met up with some friends at the park.

We have no classes or activities on Friday. So we decided to take advantage of homeschool week at the Detroit Sea Life and Legoland. We paid $10 to get into sea life and that included a fish dissection class. Then we were able to add on Legoland for an additional $5. Caiden is already ahead in his math and I had maddy work on her skip counting in the van on the way. We watched a science video in the can and Caiden gave Maddy her spelling test. We had a great day with our friends the Douglass'.
