week 2
Monday
Today was the fall equinox so we got out the globe and talked about it at breakfast. We also read Seed by Seed, a story about Johny Appleseed. We started talking about the Neolithic period in history. We reviewed the 3 parts of the brain, the 3 parts of a neuron, and the 3 parts of the nervous system in science. Westin painted his neuron today. The kids all wrote a paragraph about their favorite thing from last week. Caiden and Maddy started their new vocabulary book today. Both kids completed math, spanish, spelling, reading, cursive, and computer. Westin finished his 3 tasks. The kids also spent time working on their hats for crazy hat night for Awana.
We meet Angie and Mia and their kids for lunch at Russ'. They have $1 kids meals this month. we came home for a quick minute then we drove Caiden to Calvin University for his first Math circle. While he was there we went to the ecopreserve. We came back home and had dinner together then Caiden had soccer practice. Maddy amd Westin played at the park during Caiden's practice.
The kids went to Spanish. I came home and tackled some tasks at the house. We met up with some friends at Robinettes after class. We all enjoyed fresh cider and donuts. The kids loved running around with friends I enjoyed talking with the moms. We came home and the kids did quiet reading time. Then the kids painted the pumpkins they had picked out at Robinettes. Finally we all went to Caiden's NRG group. Mike was in Chicago on business so I had all the kids.

Wednesday
We took the morning off from school. Maddy did an art hub for kids video and Caiden worked on his hat for crazy hat day at Awana. Then we ran to the dollar store to get some more craft supplies and came home a tackled some school. We then met 2 other families at the John Ball Zoo. We stayed for about 4 hours. The animals were really active. We came home and finished school.
Saturday
Wednesday
Maddy had WMFA from 8:30-11:10. I worked with Caiden and Westin on school. Caiden had a 30 minute guitar lesson and I read with Westin. I wanted the kids to have a cafeteria experience so I took them all to lunch at the homeschool building. They enjoyed getting hot lunch. The kids worked on their school then I took Westin to swim lessons. We came home and then met some friends at the park. When Mike came home we all watched Chasing Monsters together.

Thursday
We started school at 8:00 this morning and finished by 10:30. We review the nervous system lessons and then talked about the ear today in Science. We talked about the Neolithic time period in History. Maddy wrote another Limerick in English and Caiden's lesson was on parts of speech. Both kids tackled Math and worked on their cursive. Maddy read a piece on Beavers for reading today and Caiden has been reading Wonder. Both kids reviewed their vocabulary words and Maddy reviewed her spelling words. Westin learned 5 new words today, counted to 100, and practiced his writing.
After our morning work was over we went to a farm with our Lingual Learners class. The teacher gave a farm tour in spanish, she read them a story, they did a scavenger hunt, and they played a game in Spanish. They also got to just run around with their friends and play for a while too. On the way home we stopped at an apple orchard to pick apples. When we got home we watched National Treasure 2. They include scenes from Sylivan lake, which is where we were on vacation. We then worked together to make apple pies from the apples we picked today. We enjoyed a wonderful evening at home together.
